Sweet Nothings

My Role
Lead designer on the activation build — responsible for translating the creative concept into a physical experience through spatial design, colour, and materiality.

The Challenge
How do you bring ING’s zero international transaction fees to life without a bank in sight? The brief was to turn finance into flavour — to create an indulgent, sensorial moment that felt like travel in a single bite.

The Approach
We offered Australians a taste of international travel without leaving the city by partnering with world-renowned dessert creator Catherine Zhang. The concept — Sweet Nothings — transformed ING’s promise into something tangible: a playful mandarin dessert symbolising indulgence, freedom, and the joy of discovery.

The Result
Influencers and food lovers queued around the block, eager to experience the limited-edition treat and share it online. The activation drove social buzz, earned media and real-world engagement, all pointing back to ING’s promise: The world is yours; with zero international transaction fees.

The Result
My role focused on the design of the physical build — crafting a space that felt like a bite of the dessert itself. The windows were designed to echo the mandarin’s sculptural form and sunset tones, creating a “taste of Cali” through layered orange hues, rounded shapes, and soft velvet textures. Every detail — from the carpet underfoot to the velvet ropes and staff costumes — was chosen to create a monochromatic yet dynamic environment that felt immersive, warm, and deliciously over-the-top.
